Neamţ county is known as the region with most monasteries per square
kilometre in the world.
It boasts a rich and varied landscape, with elements of great beauty,
and lots of cultural and historical vestiges. The local people
are renowned for their hospitality.
The Moldavian art style, of great originality and stylistic unity,
was developed by blending Gothic elements with the Byzantine structure
specific to the churches. Among such constructions, the monumental
church of the Neamţ Monastery served, for more than a century, as a
model for Moldavian churches and monasteries.

County Neamţ borders fellow Molodvan counties Iaşi and Vaslui to
the east and Bacău to the south. Over the
Eastern Carpathians in Transilvania is County Harghita, and to the north,
Suceava.
With an area of 5, 896 km², the topography of the county decreases
in elevation from west to east. In the west there are mountains
from the Eastern Carpathians group with heights over 1800m, the most
impressive being the Mount Ceahlău. Along the Bicaz River an impressively
long chasm-like canyon has formed, the Bicaz Chasms.
The construction of the Bicaz Dam in the 1950s on the Bistriţa River
lead to the appearance of the Lake Bicaz, or the Mountain Spring Lake,
the biggest artificial lake on the interior waters of Romania, rivalling
Swiss postcards for it's beauty.
In the East side, the lowest point is along the Siret River valley
at about 160m.

Hungarians.

automotive parts manufacturing, the textile industry, food production
and processing, and some construction materials for good measure.
